St Martins was established in 1972 and is the largest Norfolk charity supporting people who are homeless, sleeping rough or at risk from homelessness. We have a wide range of services from street outreach to the provision of secure and permanent accommodation; at any one time we are supporting in the region of around three hundred people.
We began our life in the Dean’s garage at Norwich Cathedral and we have always been extremely well supported by local faith groups. Many members of the faith community support our Christmas and Supermarket collections and we receive many donations of all kinds from a wide range of faith groups. We are always grateful for the support that we receive.
2022 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of St Martins. Whilst we do not think this is something which should be celebrated (a homeless charity should not be needed in 2021) we do plan to recognise the hard work that has taken place over the last fifty years and the support that we have received.
As part of this recognition we are launching a range of ‘Supporters of St Martins’ initiatives. One of these initiatives is for faith based groups. If you plan to continue to support St Martins or you would like to start supporting us through the provision of volunteers or donations we would like to invite you to be a Supporter of St Martins.
Your Pledge to St Martins:
To provide (one of the following):
- Christmas or Supermarket collection volunteers
- Donations of food (e.g. from harvest collections packet/tinned food)
