St Martins to open “Donation Station” in Anglia Square on Saturday June 3rd

Look out for the opening of St Martins’ very first charity shop, ‘Donation Station’, at 10am on Saturday 3rd June. Located at 74 Magdalen Street in Anglia Square, the new shop will contain stylish items ranging from authentic Levi jeans to a Coes full suit in impeccable condition. Donation Station will be open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

At St Martins, we believe that everyone deserves to own high quality clothes that make them feel great about themselves. That’s why the entire left-hand side of the store is “pay what you can afford or think it is worth”. Whether you can afford 10p or £10, we want to remove money as a barrier. While you’re browsing, make sure to check out our other fantastic deal: “fill a bag for a fiver”. You won’t find a deal like that in any ordinary charity shop.

With a children’s area complete with sweets, drawing supplies and a 50p lucky dip to entertain the kids, you can shop in peace at Donation Station while your other half puts their feet up in the reading nook. Why not have a root around the vintage section or find an amazing deal in the branded section at less than ten per cent of its original cost? Head of Life Skills and Social Development Nicky King said,  “Donation Station is not just any charity shop, its St Martins charity shop!”

Ten-year-old young ambassador Amber will have the honour of cutting the green ribbon at the grand opening on Saturday. Last year, Amber donated a phenomenal £450 to St Martins which she collected by doing a sponsored sleepout overnight to raise awareness for the homelessness crisis. At St Martins, we understand that homelessness is about more than just housing, and our new charity shop will support a plethora of services including social care and public education to reduce the stigma surrounding homelessness.

Sergio is a volunteer at Donation Station, who is thrilled about the opportunities for personal development that the new charity shop will bring him. He says “I want to get a full-time job and improve my health. Volunteering here will help me do that”. Primarily staffed by passionate volunteers like Sergio who have previously used our services, Donation Station will provide meaningful work experience and life skills to our volunteers.

Join us at Donation Station this Saturday for a chance to meet our amazing volunteers and get your hands on some fantastic deals! While you’re there, don’t forget to enter our monthly raffle to be in for the chance of winning £10 to spend in-store. We are grateful for every penny you spend at Donation Station that will contribute to the life-changing work that St Martins does.
