If you like to knit or crochet and can make some tiny blankets for our ‘Teds in Beds’ we would love for you to get involved. We have a supply of tins and teddies, and would like people to make the little sleeping bags for them. We will sell these to raise funds for our work, particularly to provide activities at our learning and development centre Under 1 Roof.
The dimensions of the blankets are 9cm x 6cm (approximately!) and a pattern can be found here and on the link below.
Any colour, style or wool weight can be used, so a good way of using up any odds and ends you may have.
Why Teds in Beds?
They are cute and popular as gifts for children and adults alike – they are ideal as stocking-fillers at Christmas, as all funds raised from the sale of the teddies goes towards the work of St Martins.
Please post completed teddy blankets to St Martins House, 120 Thorpe Road, Norwich, NR1 1RT. If you have any questions please contact us on 01603 667706 or fundraising@stmartinshousing.org.uk
Do you need other knitted items for people experiencing homelessness?
People often contact us asking if we would like knitted hats, scarves, blankets and gloves to give to the people we support, particularly those on the streets in the cold weather. Woollen and handknitted accessories are often not suitable for us to distribute to the people we support, and they are difficult to dry once they are wet. Fleece or ‘thinsulate’ style accessories are more popular. A list of items currently needed is listed on our website here.
