St Martins is proud to announce that our Director of Care Services, Angela Herbert was awarded the Harold Bodmer Lifetime Achievement Award at the Norfolk Care Association Awards.
Angela has dedicated her whole career to the social care sector and has worked for St Martins for 29 years, during which time many services have been developed and a practice of high quality care and support firmly established. Under Angela’s direction, St Martins Care Quality Commission registered care home Highwater House achieved and retained Outstanding status.
The awards ceremony took place at Sprowston Manor Hotel on October 15th and was an opportunity to celebrate the inspirational work of individuals and organisations in the social care sector, with the best of the best receiving recognition for the hard work and dedication they demonstrate every day while delivering care and support to the people of Norfolk.
The Harold Bodmer Lifetime Achievement Award is a special award presented to an individual whom the judges believe has made a long-term outstanding contribution to social care.

Angela said, “Winning this incredible award is not only a great honour for me personally but as we would say at St Martins ‘it’s one for the team’. We have a team that lives the values of St Martins and delivers the very best they can every single day. Quite simply our team saves lives and this award reflects our work together. I couldn’t be more proud.”
St Martins is a 200-strong team all working hard to support some of the most vulnerable and marginalized people in society. We support people when they are at their lowest, often when they think life isn’t worth living and they have lost hope for the future.
Angela said, “Our work can be challenging; our team members deal with situations that most people only see on TV. Nothing can replace the feeling of seeing someone achieve something they never thought possible as they battle trauma and start to live independently.”
Chief Executive Dr Jan Sheldon said, “The whole St Martins team is incredibly proud of Angela and the fact that her significant contribution to the sector in Norfolk has been recognised. She has worked tirelessly and made a great personal commitment to social care which has translated into a positive difference to many many people experiencing homelessness in our city. It’s a pleasure to work alongside Angela.
