Over Christmas, St Martins staff gave out 108 bags of goodies donated by the public to residents at the Bishopbridge House hostel and other accommodation across St Martins.
In the bags were items such as toiletries, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, clothing, biscuits, selection boxes, games, diaries, colouring books and pencils.
Bags also included presents for those clients with dogs such as treats, new leads and toys.
Life Skills Co-ordinator Nicky King was involved in assembling the bags. She said, “We try to personalise the bags as much as we can for our clients – this can take some thought with over 100! Clients always express thanks and gratitude for being thought about at Christmas – for many of them this is the only gift they will have received.”
Donations came from a variety of different places, including individuals, businesses, schools and church groups.
The public also responded generously to St Martins Christmas appeal, both through the street collection and cash donations via the website – the money raised will fund further accommodation to rough sleepers at Bishopbridge House. Click here to donate
