Norfolk-based writing group Ex-Cathedra have published an anthology of stories about loss and hope, dreams of love and belonging, biography and science fiction and adventure.
Aware of increasing levels of homelessness in Norwich the writers decided that all profits from the sale of this book would be used help raise funds to support St Martins in our work to help people experiencing homelessness into independent living.
Ex-Cathedra is a close-knit writing group of seven members who take pleasure in working together. They find editing and developing each other’s work to be both stimulating and challenging. They hope you will enjoy their latest efforts and wish you happy reading! The book launch for Tales for Our Times, published by Smokehouse Press, took place in the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library at noon on World Homeless Day (10th October).
The Ex-Cathedra members who contributed the stories are: Shirley Buxton, Alison Court, Patrick Linehan, Stuart McCarthy, Moira Newlan, Avril Suddaby and Nicola Talbot.
Tales for Our Times includes a foreword by Dr Jan Sheldon, Chief Executive of St Martins, who was honoured to speak at the book launch.
The event started with an introduction by Shirley who paid tribute to the late Graham Porter, to whom the book is dedicated, who was instrumental in forming the Ex-Cathedra writing group, developed from a creative writing course studied at Norwich Cathedral in 2008 and 2009.
Over £1,000 has already been raised for St Martins by Ex-Cathedra. Tales for Our Times can be purchased here: Smokehouse Press website
