Norwich restaurants support homeless people via StreetSmart

The annual StreetSmart restaurant campaign raises funds to tackle homelessness by adding a voluntary £1 per table to diner’s bills during the busy build up to Christmas. Local cafe Frank’s Bar on Bedford Street and Farmyard restaurant on St Benedict’s Street have signed up to the initiative and 100% of the money collected will go to local homelessness charities like St Martins and Your Own Place, who support young people who are homeless.

The scheme has been running for over 20 years and has raised more than £8.2 million for homelessness charities. It started off in London and now operates nationwide – in total over 500 restaurants participate. The idea is very simple and the vast majority of people are happy for £1 to be added to their bill and it is easy for restaurants to implement.

We are grateful to local restaurants who have caught the vision of StreetSmart and are trying it out for the first time this year.
