St Martins team members and trustees are putting their best foot forward and joining in the Walking 4 Norfolk challenge.
The challenge begins on May 12 and involves walking the distance from Norwich to Notre-Dame – a total of 375 miles. That means a team of five needs to average 6 miles a day to complete the challenge in 13 days.
St Martins has entered two teams; ‘Striding for St Martins’ and ‘Legs Miserables’ and the teams expect some healthy competition between them.
Daily progress will be uploaded to the Walking 4 Norfolk website, where 19 teams have already registered in support of numerous local causes.
Chair of Trustees Colin Bland is a member of one of the teams. He said, “I have been doing a lot of walking lately. I should be able to increase my mileage to around six miles per day, particularly when I can return to walking the golf course! St Martins is a charity close to all of our hearts and funds raised through Walking 4 Norfolk will enable more homeless people in the county to be supported into long term independence.”
Other team members intend to incorporate the extra miles into their routines. Team member Saffron runs three times a week, so will be adding up the miles covered. Support worker Ed covers several miles in a week as his job supporting people in the community. Team captains Pirry and Nikki are dog owners so rely on their canine companions to help them complete the challenge, and are looking forward to trying out some routes further afield as restrictions are relaxed.
