Footprints adorned with pictures, poems and doodles adorn wind their way down the corridor of St Martins' assessment hub on Recorder Road. The Hub provides short term accommodation and support to people who would otherwise be sleeping rough.

St Martins is listed in the national 100 Best mid-sized Organisations to Work for 2021, is is number 18 in the best charities to work for.

Aaron is a transgender male who lives in the community. He was abused throughout his childhood and as a result suffers with several mental health issues. He has struggled for years with substance misuse, including daily use of alcohol, cocaine and cannabis.

"When doing art, my mind closes to my problems and the art flows, like music. I find it a peaceful place when I can create."

At St Martins we prioritise the wellbeing of our team.We have set up a working group to implement relevant initiatives across St Martins in order to support team members’ wellbeing in the workplace.

St Martins team members and trustees are putting their best foot forward and joining in the Walking 4 Norfolk challenge.

Offending, drug and alcohol use, poor mental health. These are just a few of the many issues faced by our clients, which impact not only upon them but on the wider society. Without somewhere safe to stay, and access to appropriate interventions and a listening ear, we see the same people returning to the lifestyles they know; the ‘revolving door’ of the criminal justice system.

First year students in Occupational Therapy at the University of East Anglia (UEA) took part in a virtual placement at St Martins where they met staff, clients and volunteers and received a unique insight into homelessness support.

A government questionnaire of people sleeping rough highlights the multiple difficulties people face, including poor mental health, childhood trauma and domestic violence. The findings will inform important prevention work.
